Condor Hotels is thrilled to announce its collaboration with Green Circle in the ambitious redevelopment of the Kirkby Valley Golf Course, which aims to establish the region's first TOTAL GOLF destination. The plans, approved in October 2024 by Knowsley Council's Planning Committee, represent a £20 million investment into revitalising this former municipal golf course.
Yvonne Jackson, CEO of Condor Hotels, stated, "We are excited to be part of this innovative project that aligns perfectly with our commitment to enhancing local communities and creating memorable experiences for visitors. Our consultation has focused on maximising the operational efficiency and hospitality offerings to ensure a seamless experience for all who visit Kirkby Valley."
The proposal, which originated in 2021 and was refined based on extensive consultations, includes several unique features designed for golfers of all ages and skill levels. Among them:
- An enhanced 18-hole Championship course with strategically reshaped greens and tees, supported by a new irrigation and drainage system to guarantee year-round playability.
- A 9-hole par 3 Academy course catering to younger golfers, beginners, and those seeking a more relaxed game.
- An 18-hole Adventure Golf Course that promises a fun-filled, family-friendly environment alongside traditional golf formats.
- A state-of-the-art driving range featuring two tiers, golf simulation technology, and teaching spaces to develop critical golfing skills.
Yvonne added, "Our partnership with Green Circle is pivotal in realising a vision that promotes the sport and focuses on accessibility and community engagement. The new clubhouse, which will include a golf shop, bar, restaurant, and event space, is designed to serve as a social hub for the community, all while maintaining a connection with the natural landscape."
The initiative includes expanded outreach programs that will offer opportunities for local schools and health initiatives to improve well-being through social prescribing golf sessions.
Andrew Craven of IDG Golf Architects emphasised the project's commitment to preserving the landscape's ecological integrity while enhancing biodiversity through new planting and habitat creation. Jackson confirmed Condor Hotels ' dedication to local employment, with the development expected to create 75 full-time jobs across various sectors.
"We are committed to ensuring that local people benefit from these new opportunities, including working with Knowsley Council to provide job training for those in need," she said. "As a Merseyside-based company, we pledge to utilise local contractors and suppliers throughout the construction process, further benefiting the local economy."
Work is projected to commence in Spring 2025, and the new facilities are planned to welcome visitors by April 2028. Condor Hotels is eager to support this transformative project and looks forward to establishing Kirkby Valley as a premier destination for golf enthusiasts and families.
